Smile Inlet Temp Sensor - Fitting Results

Hi, I just fitted an inlet temp sensor on my 03 STi, at the moment the outside temp is pretty low and on my first drive down the road I was only getting 7-10 degrees C. Does this sound about right?

I slipped the sensor under the silicon hose between the intercooler and the engine so that it hangs down the middle, so I hope this is the correct position?

On first start up in the morning, the sensor at the throttle body may typically be a couple of deg C below the ambient. Once the car is warmed through and you are cruising, the temperature will be around ambient or a couple of degrees above, subject to the efficiency of your intercooler.
After switch off, the TB temp will climb to match the underbody temperature with time.
In traffic the TB temp will rise but should go down towards ambient when you are on light cruise.

Wuz : Look at it this way. Greeat minds think alike and fools seldom differ.
Now that presents Boyakasha with a dilema.

Thanks Harvey, I was told the the charge temps would be around 25-35 but I guess this is when the weather is warmer. The reason I wanted to know the charge temps is that I was considering a FMIC but if the charge temps are pretty low at the moment I guess I'll wait to see how it goes in the summer months.

Cheers guys.

Keep an eye on your throttle body temperatures and compare them with the ambient temperature. If there is not a big difference there is no point buying a front mount so save your money. The need for a front mount usually shows up in warm weather on wide open throttle or prolonged high speed cruise.

Harvey - like your thinking! I'll never have to touch Mark car again if he keeps the TMIC

BUT then again, I'll have to source an STi8 TMIC myself instead of buying his one cheap

SHAME ON YOU HARVEY

Done the same....inserted the sensor under the silicon hose between TB and intercooler. left no slack on the wire so the sensor does not dangle. My idea was not to get the wire worn out by the swinging effect.
Hope that will be ok..because if it drops then.. BAM

Also getting near ambient at 0.5-1.5 degree C once on the move.

And so it begins

Now that you have a temp sensor you will be seeing temp rises in traffic and high temps in summer. This will lead to a quest for keeping them down... Just wait until you see 70+C

I think the next job is to add some spray nozzles.
What would be a cost effective automatic water spray system.
