If you want to get the beswt breathing from your engine and your going to get a remap you should look at induction

i have a k&n induction kit on my 1996 wrx sti and did notice a differance when i put it on much better throtle responce and a bit more power just make sure you get a 2nd cold air feed on coz mine wasnt boosting right at high revs use your airbox feed as one and the air pipe supplied with the k&n as the 2nd if you want abit more hp get a afterburner decat downpipe from www.scoobyworld.co.uk i did and it made a big differance

Imprezas dont benefit from 'induction kits' unless theyre making well in excess of 300Bhp; Id advise against fitting one as they cause more problems than they solve, this goes for oiled filter elements too.

There are some circumstances where a VTA dump valve will be a benefit, but unless youve got a 500Bhp monster then I doubt that that will do anything productive either; dump valves and induction kits are the mechanical equivalent of blue neon washer jets.....

A bit of controversy creeping in there.....

Question

Damn.........to late, GC8 posted what i was going to say.

Induction kits can, and often do, kill the MAF sensor, which in turn, can kill your engine, unless you have an aftermarket ecu, like a LINK, which doesn't use the MAF.

I got an HKS ind kit fitted to my '93 wrx with a remap aswell. Noticed a little difference performance wise, but did notice a big difference in how much better the car sounded when fitted with the decat exhaust.

I've got a Blitz stainless steel induction kit along with Bailey dump valve, remap and full stainless single high flow cat exhaust, and have never had any problems on my UK97 turbo. Rolling road figures are pretty good to with 268bhp. Love the sound of the induction kit sucking in air when pushing it!!

You are probably better off with a panel filter Modern airboxes are designed so well these days and the airflow into them well planned out so that the only thing an induction kit does it make more noise and on a turbo car or scoob you don't really need that.

Been running a Blitz SUS filter for a year with no problems at all but it has a decent air feed from the front and a heatshield so stays pretty cool.

I believe the older MAF sensors are more robust and are not so prone to damage...on later cars it's advised to stick to the OE airbox and a decent (non oiled) panel filter.
