Which exhaust?
Basic question this one, I've got a standard 54 plate wrx, but want to change the exhaust to get it sounding better. I was one of those "yea, I'll leave it standard" types, but after three months and this website that ain't goin' to happen!!!. My local dealeer has suggested just changing the back box.

If you've got the spare cash, i would go the ppp route, they change the back box anyway, and you'll get approx another 40 bhp, it'll be quicker and sound nicer

Hayward and Scott are worth a mention. The Prodrive exhaust is a bit too tame for me and the H&S backbox is just that bit louder. Under normal driving it is not much louder than the standard exhaust on my STI but sounds fantastic at full chat. I friend of mine has just fitted the Afterburner to his new age WRX and it does sound fantastic though they are louder than others.
