Default Mechanical/Electrical Guages

Hi, quick question, i know it may seem stupid, but whats the difference between electrical guages and mechanical ones, its not to do with the display is it??

electrical is safer for example the mechanical oil temperature gauge uses a capillery that goes from the egine to the back of the gauge.
Electrical use senders so only the wiring goes into the back of the gauge

boost can be electrical like the hKS but most ppl have mechanical boost gauges as its only air
