Default Overboost

I have just had a remap on a MY00 and the boost peaks in 4th and 5th at about 1.5 and then immediately drops down to about 1.3'ish (I havent studied it that closely yet) Is this ok and more importantly safe?

It has a full downpipe, decat, centre section, backbox combination. Panel Filter, P1 TMIC and NGK 7's.

Mapped by one of the big names. I will not name him as I am not even remotely suggesting he has done anything wrong and very much don't want it to come across that he has.

Did the mapper not give you an indication of what boost it should be running?
Might be worth a phone call.

If it was mapped with target boost set to 1.5 bar, then there is no problem whatsoever. Doesn't sound like boost creep, as the boost would keep rising until you ht fuel cut.
Speak to the mapper, I am sure he would not mind answering any queries you have - if he does, then maybe you should coinsider another mapper?

We kind of mentioned having a boost of 1.25 but the actuator was sticking and I kept getting overboost, I think that is sorted now as it was greased up. I just really need to know if 1.5 peak is too much and it will go pop. None of my defi's or knocklink are showing bad signs.

I had a dodgy boost guage that read 1.4bar even though it was only running 1.1bar. Might be an idea?

Check with the mapper - if he is worth his salt, he will advise you. He has the best idea of how your engine is running (1st hand experience) he also knows what he has set the engine to do.
