Sell the ECU for a standard one, and get that mapped instead. No point wasting a PPP ECU

It's what I did.

Mapping a standard ecu is no different than starting with a ppp one, they do away with the original map anyway, so the point is, you're throwing away a ppp ecu if you have it remapped, might aswell start with a standard one!!

is the ppp just a piggyback chip you can remove, or do you need to get a new standard chip

the ppp is actually an sti ecu, thats then mapped for the uk cars, so if you're intending on getting a tek3 or similar, the best route is to seel it to someone with a standard ecu they can let you have in px!

Can you just swap the ECU's or do you need to reprogram keys etc ?

It varies. Up until the first half of 2002 the ppp was a unichip piggy back solder in modded job. After this, not sure of the exact date, the ppp was an ecutek remap of the standard ECU.
