Question Rear silencers that have a straight inlet ?

As title, just wondering what make the rear boxes are that don't have the 'S' bend on the inlet ? ie the boxes that actually sit at an angle and have a straight feed from under the diff area.

I've seen a few of them now but none of them had any details on them, usually imports.

Do you mean "bought" systems, like a Blitz, or just any system like my own? I had C&C do me that style....if you wanted a gander....?

I'm sure the HKS backboxes are like that as well. I think they have a slight bend under the rear subframe to get the tailpipe to where it should be, but the entry to the backbox is straight. Thats why the backbox sits at an angle.

This is the best i've got at the mo m8. Revolution system with different bb. What they done was make a straight cut in the centre section and have a straight inlet for the bb. Then have a sleeve fitted over the end of the centre section and basically went back and forth, trying to get the sleeve and another piece of pipe, the right angle and weld it up. All in all, it took them about 1.5 hours, but they weren't rushing.

You can see the bracket that holds the centre section to the bb pipe. Just after that, you can see the welded part at the angled join.

IIRC it was about £250, but that is including the bb. I am going to get them to make me upanother centre section and they quoted me about £100 for that, which is HALF the price of the pucker Revolution one!

Yeah Mike's right. Its supposed to make the gases flow faster from the exhaust. YThe BPM twister exhaust takes this methodoligy to the max.

Aaargh.....too much choice now

I have a MY03 WRX which has a decat downpipe but std system otherwise and I was looking for a silenced centre and straight inlet rear box to fit to it.

Not wanting it too noisy (or expensive )

The H&S also looks good Carl Do you have a silencer in the middle ?

Andy: Straightest, cost effective system I could find was Scoobymania, centre section and back box. Actually won the back box as a prize from Scoobymania as winner of Scooby Shootout 2003. This system is on the STi Wagon and then I put one on Alan Bell's car, both to good effect as you know.

Having heard Alans yesterday from outside the car, whilst he set off up the road, i was surprised how loud it was compared to my Hyper. ie nearly as loud as the hyper without the bung in. With the bung in, the hyper would be quieter IMO.

http://www.grahamgoode.com/page.php?...ge=impreza.htm

Hyper also has a small silencer in the centre section.
