Turned off, and cold....

There is a notch in the dipstick for a hot level indicator

Be careful not to overfill, if topping up.

forget the notch all together, check cold (as above) and ensure the car is on a flat surface....................level should be between the two holes in the dipstick

2.0 turbo takes 4.5 litres of oil.

Oil shouldn't be over the hole marked 'f' for full on the dipstick but I prefer to fill mine to half way between those markers to avoid solenoid clogging etc.

Make sure that when you check the oil you have the oil can on top of the dipstick facing you - gives the best reading.
Yep - 4.5 litres with filter - never used any between changes with me. I think I left a spare 1 litre can of Castrol RS next the spare in the boot, if you need to top up
