Smile Quickshift fitting ???

Got a quickshift that I wish to fit, what is the best way of going about it??
Is it a do-able from inside the car or will I have to venture underneath.

97 WRX Ra

Detailed talk through would be an advantage.............

Thanks in advance

Which model year car do you have?
If its a classic its pretty easy to do.

Basicly you do it all in the car.
I can't remember the exact way but I have a set of B&M instructions I can fax or post to you if you want?

Basically like this.

1. Unscrew gear shift ****
2. Remove plastic console around the gearbox lever.
3. Remove nut and bolt that holds it to the linkage.
4. Place into 2nd gear, and press down. The lever should pop out.
5. If your new lever doesn't have a bush, re-use the exisiting one.
6. Re-use grease from the existing lever and liberally coat the new lever ball.
7. Screw lever **** onto new lever and hold vertically into the socket.
8. Whack it hard with the palm of your hand and it should pop back in. Others use a piece of timber and a hammer (without ****). Try not to damage the thread.
9. Replace nut and bolt thru bush to linkage. Remember not to do it up too tight.
10. Give it a try before re-assembling console.
11. Some brands will foul the metal trim when in 1st gear. So you might have to remove this trim piece and trim slightly.
12. Re-assemble console and enjoy..
