Default Number Plate

I have a square, centrally mounted number plate on my sti which covers up a good portion of the radiator. Are there any alternitives out there and if so, are they legal???

I have had mine stuck on the middle part of the splitter for ages, got it from a vinyl signs place and its reflective too. No problems so far.
