I can't go over 100mph...
... without my car beeping at me!
Not that i travel at 100mph often, but still, it's not right?
My cars a W reg MY00 classic and is RR'd at 269bhp @ 1.2bar.
Ive had the car a couple of months but its only just started doing it.
When im in 5th gear with my foot to the floor (doing approx 100mph) my turbo timer reads 1.24 (bar?), beeps and flashes red at me, and continues to do so until i slow down.
Even when im doing 80mph in 5th accelerating my turbo timer reads 1.20/1.21 (bar?), beeps and flashes red.
Im hesitant to keep accelerating when clearly my car isn't happy about it (beeps, red flashes), so at the mo a Corsa could top out after me.
I can go upto the redline in 1st/2nd gear etc and the turbo timer only ever reaches 1.17/1.18 and doesnt beep or flash red.
Any ideas?

That'll be the "over boost warning" on your turbo timer.
It is user settable (<- is that English?)/adjustable so you should be able to set it at whatever you like.
Naturally, with it warning you about blowing your motor, perhaps finding out a sensible boost level to have it set to trip at would be a good idea. I reckon no warning and your motor or gaskets blowing would likely cause more tears than a few beeps

The guy who previously had the car obviously set the 'over boost warning' on the turbo timer. It was RR'd at 1.2bar so i don't want to set it any higher.
But why is it beeping at me doing 80mph-100mph in 5th gear, when previously it hasn't? As i said im reluctant to drive it when its doing so so at the moment, in effect, my car is limited to <100mph

Is this happening to a standard car?
My 2003 UK WRX appears to sound its horn at 115mph which scared the **** out of me because I thought something was about to crash into me. I just pressumed it was a speed warning, is it something more sinister??
Regards,
Roger

Cold weather may be causing a smidge extra boost which results in the overboost warning. Set the warning a touch higher
What method has been used to increse the boost?

Excuse my lack of knowledge, lol, but what's a knocklink?
My turbo timer is a Blitz one.
I went out for a drive earlier to see if it was still doing and yep, in 5th gear between 80-100mph it bleeps and flashes red. It could be the weather, but ive been out on far colder days with no problems.
It's not bothering me too much, as i don't travel at high speeds often, i prefer to use the power accelerating through the gears etc... but... it's just worrying me that something is wrong with the car.
Many thanks again for your help

when it beeps and flashes red what is the display (pressuming its in the boost mode) reading? if you scrole through the modes until you find the peak boost recorded, are they way above your 1.2bar preset? either reset the peak boost reading or watch the readout whilst testing what the boost reaches in 4th gear, chances are it'll be a couple units (0.01bar) lower than in 5th - therfore nowt to worry about. as previously stated if you don't want it beeping at you just slightly up the overboost warn limit. in my old MY00 uk i would get around 0.1bar differance with differant weather / temps, chances are your dealing with a couple of 0.01bar

If i floor it in 4th it reaches around 1.17/1.18.
If i floor it in 5th it reaches between 1.20/1.24
It beeps/flashes red as soon as it reaches 1.20, so i guess that's the limit.

that personally wouldn't bother me, if the cars boost setting (not the timer) is set at 1.2 bar and most your hitting is 1.24 bar thats only 3.3% over, but then again i'm no expert. but as brun said i would use a knocklink (contraption that detects knock - which is can melt engines and 1 of the many causes of knock is overboost)
beeps/flashes red as soon as it reaches 1.20, so i guess that's the limit.

chances are it'll be due to the cooler weather but have you changed/cleaned the air filter or done something that'll alter the breathing of the engine?

AFAIK the TEK2 has a target boost of 16.5psi (1.12bar) which it should achieve if you floor the throttle at 3500rpm in 5th. It shouldn't really peak at much more than that although I would think it would in the cold/rain, maybe 1.2?. You really need to check the peak as someone said above - if it is hitting, say, 1.3bar (mine was a few weeks ago with similar setup), then something needs doing, ie you need to see a man with a rolling road who will probably open the restrictor out a tad (0.05mm) (assuming everything else is OK and you have done the obvious like cleaning the boost controller etc).

Many thanks for the help people, i'll take into consideration what has been said. It's due to be serviced on Saturday and i'll take it to a RR in the near future.
