Default From PPP to Ecutek, worth?

As the tittle says, worth the money and effort to go from PPP to Ecutek even if it will mapped from Bob R?
The car is WRX03 with full exhaust, I/C “Y” hose and future mods an AVO turbo intake hose and USDM STI fuel pump (just for the case) and warranty isn't an issue.

What boost does the PPP run - this will be the significant difference I guess. The classic PPP, while having a higher target, still dropped off very quickly. Ecutek will likely give you better held boost at higher revs.

Why not combine it with a VF34 too?

Last PPPs run about 1,2bar, in my car I have seen overboost to 17+ psi but usualy runs 16,7psi so there aren't gains from boost Richard, I don't know though if there are some gains from leaner mixture and/or advance, I am interest more for torque low-middle area rather huge power and bear in mind we already have 100 octane fuels from Shell, BP and EKO (local company).
So far my car measured with DD gave 238ps at the wheels not bad ah?

I set boost target to between 1.25 and 1.3 bar on WRX's (depending on the car). How long does yours hold 1.2 bar? I know the classic PPP and the new-age STi's have a boost peak that is a bit like overboost. If the new-age holds the boost to around 5-5k5 before tailing off then gains will be limited to timing/fuelling changes.

Overall, the car should be much nicer to drive - even if peak outputs don't differ wildly. Probably best to talk to Bob about it - he would have experience of the WRX PPP.

Hi Jim,

I had mine done, PPP to Tek3. A huge improvement. No more hesitation, pulls more above 5.5k, doesn't run out of steam at 6k, and low down power is better

Had mine mapped on a dyno, not on the road.

Bob mapped my old WRX, I was so impressed he's now mapped my STi.

My old PPP WRX with full decat used to be quick. When Bob mapped it poperly it absolutely flew.

Don't think about it, just do it

Well, I'll do it in every case as I trust more than others Bob to map my car but just want to be sure that worth the extra money and isn't only a placebo effect!
And as I already said my target is better overall throttle response and as much torque as possible low down.
Of course turbo and injectors are limiting factors in my case (already run 99-100% IDC in a very short period - high rpms) thus my aim for more torque not power and I usualy drive my car in B / mountain roads.

I had my standard 2004 WRX wagon (not PPP'd) remapped by Bob Rawle and it flys, the mods i have are decat uppipe-decat downpipe-ninja backbox & STi panel filter, when i had it on a rolling road it got 269bhp & 300lbs torque , i would say go for a remap and you won't be disappointed

This is a PPP road dyno compared with one of the best dyno plots when my car was completely standard, don't ask me about the figures on standard car we have 100RON fuel:

When i had mine on a rolling road there were a couple of newage cars with PPP there too and they both got about 255bhp & 260lbs torque.

The above figures show power at the wheels mate not at the flywheel!
Of course Delta Dash measures are different from a Rolling Road so can't compare them.
