Default Is my car overboosting?

I've removed the middle section cat and fitted a blitz back box to my newage WRX. The difference in first gear is mental - and I'm wondering if its spiking in first? Never get a CEL or anything, but the car feels almost STi like in first...is everything OK (car has only done 5k miles and hasn't missed a beat).

I need to fit a boost gauge but am stuck matching t piece sizes to the tubing...

edited to say I'm also using loads of fuel cos I keep dropping to first and blasting away at every available opportunity

I doubt you are overboosting with only those minor mods, though you probably have increased the boost slightly and your exhaust is now more free flowing, but for what you have done you probably havnt gained much in performance, maybe a few tenths to 100mph.

The car doesn't feel much different through the gears - only in first...

Overboosting is bascially when the car hits the cutout specified in the ecu (for example say 18psi), what it does is then cut the boost back down to say 13psi before giving you the power back, so what you get is a pulsing feel, what you seem to have is just more performance due to the exhaust being less restrictive.
