My day at Pro-Sport, Stockport
Hi all
just had the scoob with john @ pro-sport for a checkover and rolling road to see how my mods have done or whether they were a waste of money!
Well good news and not so good.
not so good news was the best it ran was 257.1 bhp
but the good news it has 302.6 Lbs of torque! (well i think thats good!)
Car spec: 1993 wrx import
Z4 ecu with scooby ecu chip to 15.5 psi to run on optimax alone
HKS Induction kit
Hks fuel cut defender
JW racing manual boost valve
HKS downpipe
Afterburner vortex angled back box and centre pipe
Blitz iridium no.7 plugs
I do have a problem with hot air being sucked in, anyone know where i can get a direct line feeding the induction kit or know about putting somthing to seperate it from the engine with some alli? or could i mount the ind. kit elsewhere?
What could be my next sensible step for more power!?!?!
Oh & i have all the afr/knock link/oil press./boost gauges, walbro up-rated fuel pump, upgraded brakes & s/steel lines, eibach springs, anti-lift kit, top & bottom struts, new arb's front & back & new links for them, 17" alloys, full samco's, forge header tank
Any how big thanks to John & the lads at Pro-sport for a top job and giving sound advice - highly recomend them!
Sorry to go on, any ideas on the above, much appreciated
Cheers, tim

You should be overjoyed with that torque! That is a great result IMHO.
There are several 'inthe front wing' induction kits now to get the coldest air to the engine, API make a sexy one ($$), but check the various Project threads (you should make a habit of that now) and you will see some good ideas/results, especially 'Flat4' thread.
I would leave your engine alone now and get the suspension/brakes done.
Good luck and well done!

Mine is 311bhp and 331lbs of torque (just an STi panel filter, JDM STi MY03 btw) then again it was designed to have higher torque levels than most other STi's (except of the same year onwards )

I didn't know John was running the place now, does Pete know?
Interestingly (maybe ) my car has always had higher BHP than Torque at Prosport, although generally cars do seem to put down good torque figures there. I know from my own datalogs than boost comes in earlier than on other rollers.

power does seem very low though, especially as the turbo is capable of spooling up nicely. The combination of scoobyecu, fuel cut defender AND boost controller is an odd one though.
it's not a wagon is it?

My very similarly specced MY93 WRX did 288bhp on Prosport's rollers this time last year. IIRC, it was something like 288bhp @ 6250 and 250lb/ft @ 5500

pavlo, i have my graph print out infront of me and there are 2 bhp readings.
the first is 257.1 bhp and has Peng next to it at 6920 rpm
the 2nd is 317.4bhp at 6350 rpm, this is also shown on the graph that it hits 317.4 bhp. & has Pmax next to it.
I would put it on but cant work out how to insert the pic!
Its a saloon!

had 550s,VF34 turbo,Gruppe-S headers and a Motec M800 fitted to make the "beast " a bit quicker ........ as I did not like the tek3 along with the MD304 turbo that was on b4 ( but still make 342 bhp ! )
with the motec and vf34 they had got the car to around 400 bhp, but now they have detune it to 380 ( to save the clutch and gearbox while my wallets recovers )

Hey paul
could you explain these to figures to me?
The 'Peng' said 257.1bhp
but the Pmax said 317.4bhp which is right/wrong?!? im confused here!
The graph clearly shows the torque & bhp figure - torque showing the 302 and bhp hitting 317 at that rev, before it goes down to the rev limit which is where the 257 figure comes from.
hope that makes sense!?

oh & i have decided to try & put my induction kit behind the cut outs in the bumper (not sure if will fit yet!) & run a pipe (any ideas on what & where from appreciated!) up to the original connection of where the kit should be.
Anyone else tried this?

I suspect the Peng is possible the power at the point where the cursor was on the software when they printed the graph. The rolling road operator will lift the throttle as he approaches the redline to begin the coastdown loss part of the power run (whilst also dipping the clutch).

The printout should have PWheel and PMax figures, what are they?
I would leave the induction kit where it is but run some cold air feeds to it and try to shield it from engine bay heat.
