Default Can you just swap the ECU on MY02 STI 7 without reprogramming the keys?

Hi all,

I used to have a MY97 which needed the keys programmed to match the ECU.
Then a MY00 which didn't.
Anyone know what the situation is for a STI 7 (bugeye)? (Type UK )
Hoping to swap my PPP ECU out for a standard one & then get ECUTEK'd :-)
Cheers,John

So in theory, if you had two ecu's (one standard and the other remapped) with a set of programmed keys for each, you could just swap between the 2 as and when you wanted??

Yep, takes 5mins on the MY99/00 and as Beastie says no need to reprogramme keys. Done it many a time on mine.

Any EcuTek dealer can resync your keys to a new ECU for you quite easily (although I lost connectivity to an ECU with a faulty immobiliser trying this once - luckily Subaru resync fixed!).
