Default MY03 Sti ECU reset?

I've tried searching without any luck. Anyone know the correct procedure to reset the ECU on the MY03> Sti?

I use my SECS 1004 to re-set the ecu

Do not think the green wire/black wire system works on new age models.

Battery detach doesn't work, all values are saved into nvram

Anyone who can do diagnostics or remaps should be able to do it. 'Clinic, TSL, Well Lane, Prosport, Power Enginering etc... Just other options should the dealer be chrging for the privilege.

Why do you want to reset it ? It is capable of relearning on its own.

Non Volatile ram ie doesn't forget after a powerdown.

ECU learning is a good thing, a reset can be bad ! You would only really consider this if you had A- run poor quality fuel or B- had a poor tuning setup.

The later ECU's can be made to learn a new fuel quite quickly without a reset.

when my ppp scored low on a rolling road the dealer i bought it from told me to contact mike wood who said an ecu reset would be all it needed!
the reset made no difference so it got remapped anyway but are you saying a reset for newage is useless without further investigations?

If you (or someone else) had overcooked it on a rolling road or run the wrong fuel for example, then a reset will quicken the learning process. If there is some fault however it may just relearn the 'slow' settings.

You should have a real reason to do this, its not something you "just do" despite what is said on here at times.

The ecu not only learns about timing but closed loop fuel long and short term trims, boost response, knock learning plus the dynamic fine learning are all stored, the ecu has four layers of ignition settings to mix and match, do a reset and you lose the lot, the panacea of the GC8 "its yur maf mate" does not seem to hold true for the new age cars, so if you are having a problem and think this may help or resolve its very unlikely to. As a comment the GC8 ecu functions in a similar way, its not so refined though, or detailed.

If you do reset it then the process of triggering the learning again actualy takes one steady accellerate in 5th from 2k rpm with a progressive boost (not aggressive) up to about 0.8 bar, that will kick start it, BUT, it could go down as well as up especially if you have a VTA bov fitted. The ecu has sensitive and not so sensitive area's of learning designed to protect against heavy low/mid range loads, in std form the ecu code provides very little protection at higher revs. So, why do you want to reset ?

Battery detach does work btw.

cheers
