Default Miss Firing

Hi there people, just need some tech advice and information if at all possible.

My 95 wrx has started missfiring on the way back from work. To the point where it just about moves, no power to it at all and almost dies if you try to bring the revs up.

Not sure what this could be, has anyone experienced any thing like this?

Im thinking it could be the spark plugs, which im gonna try to change this weekend to see if that sorts the missing out.

How difficult is it to change the spark plugs? and is there any instructions on this site for it?

Erm thats about it really.

Cheers

when u get the plugs out do a compression test
it could all so be your coil packs on top of the plugs to be faulty
to change the plugs is a bit of a pain !!!!!

Default Misfire

Cheers for the reply,

Its been off the road for 2 days now, went to start it up and check the problem, now it wont start at all.

It still ticks over, so its not the battery, and on closer inspection i cant hear the fuel pump when the ignition is switched on, so im guessing that ive found the problem.

Can any one advise me where the fuel pump is located? also tried local part companies round my way and they dont stock the pump for a my95 wrx import.

Is it the same as the uk2000 turbo pump? and also where do you guys recoment getting a fuel pump from?

Cheers

if u lift the carpet in the boot
u should find a plate with 4 screw in it
remove the plate that will uncover the fuel tank remove the pipes & wireing to the plate
remove the plate of the tank slowley witch well uncover the pump & sender unit

first of all have u got a feed to the pump ????

i had the same problem mate change your plugs first if thier old and on the coil packs peal back the rubber bits and look for hair line cracks mine where cracked in half changing the plugs is easy just take the washer bottle out and you can get to them to and take off the air box and you can get to the other ones as for the fuel pump take out the two back seats ,lift up the boot carpet and you will see two round inspection covers undo the driver side one and you will see the fuel pump a skyline pump fits sraight on if you can get second hand take off the feed fuel pipe from the fuel filter under the bonnet passenger bulk head turn ignition on and see if you have fuel pressure cause i dont think u can hear the fuel pump when you turn the ignition on the noise i think u hear is the fuel regulator this is how we done my friends u can get second hand fuel pumps from grade a breakers

good luck raywrx

Default Misfire

Cheers for the reply peeps.

Undone the fuel feed to the engine and turned the car over a couple of times, no fuel was being pumped into the engine.

So have taken the carpet out of the boot, undone the plate and just waiting for the pump to arrive

Once i fit it. im hoping that it will run. will let you know of the out come

Ive replaced the fuel pump and its running fine now, no misfiring, however the petrol gauge isn't working at all now

ive taken the pump out again (3 times), checked that its all fitted properly, which it is but still the pump isnt working.

Can anyone suggest what this could be? before i book it into the garage for them to check, as its driving me mad?

Im really starting hate the bloody thing
