Well I bought the type ra ecu for my '93 wrx.

initially I thought it was ok but sometimes (only sometimes) under hard load it will cut out anywhere between 4500rpm 5500rpm! usually wants it starts cutting out, then it will keep doing unless I drive steady for ages then try it again!

is there a manual way of reseting ecu? other than disconnecting battery for half hour or so?

(ps I have a 280bhp chip, would this cure it if I put it in)

The reset procedure is HERE but tbh it sounds like coilpack breakdown - does it only happen under boost conditions?

yeah it only cuts out under hard boost!
push throttle gradually and it will go all the way to redline no probs, it's only when you nail it it cuts out! but not all the time, most of the time on a journey it will be ok but every now and again!!!

most annoying when your trying to overtake and you don't know if it will go past or not!

sort of but it only cuts out under breaking when diping the clutch and hitting the break at junctions ?, booked into a dealer for thursday. Its such an iratic problem so just want peice of mind so im having a ecu check for fault codes

 

Are you sure it's not Fuel cut/overboost you're getting ?
