Unhappy CEl and hesitation

This morning I decided to go for a drive before I went to work.
Once the car had warmed up and there was an open stretch of road I gave the car a good blast . Everything seemed fine, I approched a roundabout slowed down and a way again as I changed from 3rd to 4th gear I noticed that the CEL light appeared flashed on and off for several times then went off . I slowed down incase anything went wrong and headed back into Aberdeen .
I floored it again to see if the light would appear no light but there was a lot of hesitation around 3000 revs .

Car now feels fine again though .

What could have caused this to happen ?

Please HELP .

MY 01 wrx with magnex back box, mid section and mid decat .

Mine flickered on and off a few times after a blast.

Then eventually stayed on permanent.

The censor in the de-catted resonator box had burnt out, so I replaced it with a second hand one from a scrappy and its been fine since.

It may be called an O2 censor but Im not sure. It lives where the second cat is positioned just aft of the gearbox.

Yes, could be a multiude of things.

The service manager at my local dealers said candidly, " The Cel light is so sensitive will come on if your cigarette lighter is not replaced correctly......"

I believed him for a while......

I have been told that det can cause flashing CELs thus the retarding advance and hesitation you mention after the above...but I am not sure, check it!

Could be anumner of things, you need to check the fault code.

Its likely to be 02 sensor or similar but as Jim said, you can get this from a bit of det. I had it once on my UK turbo after I knowing filled with normal fiel (no sul available) the CEL came on as the ECU adjusted from the knock it must have picked up.

Phil

MY01's seem to throw up a number of CEL's ...

CEL code P0420 senses that you have messed with the cats but this should stay on and never go away. MY01's also seem to throw up cam position sensor errors for some reason. I'd drop into your local Scooby dealer to check the error codes stored... our local scooby dealer plugs in the select monitor and advises FOC usually
