Default Could improved grounding highlight a fault?

Reason for question is this. My car (Bugeye WRX) was running beautifully after a tek3 remap with BRD. I fitted a grounding kit to the car on Sunday, drove about 5 miles at a fairly steady pace and then accelerated quite hard in 4th gear from approx 3000rpm then noticed the CEL flashing at me for approx 20 secs & then went out. Backed off, drove home hoping it was a one off.
Next day again 4th gear decided to accelerate hard and got the CEL flashing at me again only this time it stayed on (and is still on now). Could the improved grounding now "show up" a failing sensor or something that would otherwise have gone unnoticed?

I look forward to your theories (and facts!)

You need to find out what the CEL error code is first.

Car is booked in at local dealers tomorrow morning 8am - just wondered if it is feasable that this could happen

Unlikely, but anything's possible. You can check the code yourself if you follow the instructions here

Did you have the battery disconnected when you fiited the earth kit?

If the car was mapped then the various sensors give a slightly different value due to a better earth, it may affect things such as the lambda readings etc, but wouldn't have thought by much. And doubt it would be enough to give a CEL. Ask Bob direct, you payed for it afterall!

OK had the CEL code pulled today (was charged £30 for the priveledge).
Code was P0303 which I'm led to believe is a misfire "possibly due to a spark plug fault"

Yes battery was disconnected - both leads!
I asked Bob after he mapped the car if fitting an earthing kit would affect the work he had done and he said "only in a positive way" (I guess he means the improved grounding would complement what he had done)

I'm going to try new plugs first.

Thanks

i fitted an earthing kit to my 92 legacy a few years ago and got the same problem as you (misfires etc.) took the kit off and it was fine again decided that it had highlighted poor coil packs that were on the way out, strange that it would do it on a new car though

fitted it to my latest car a few months back and it cured all my problems though

That's interesting. Although the car is fairly new it has covered 75K so perhaps you could be on to something here with your coil packs suggestion.
Can you get these coil packs for sensible money? (read Not a Subaru dealer)

Mark.

no idea to be honest, this was the early model which had individual coil packs for each plug
