Default 1994 WRC

does anyone know what power and torque output the 1994 impreza wrc has. I do know that they less than 370bhp but they had torque curves well over the same figure.

Im looking to start building my own engine very soon and was wondering how do you go about doing this as im not a big bhp person, its great too have 500bhp but its not all on tap and is hardly ever usable, its all about the torque do you start with compression ratios, crank, cams, turbo ????

any imput would be much appriciated

The 1994 cars were Group A not WRC. They have a fairly low bhp figure compared to torque due to the restriction/rules that they have to comply with. The most obvious one is the restrictor in the turbo inlet. They have to run very high boost to get that sort of torque (380 lb/ft irrc).

But for a road car it is absolutely pointless trying to copy the group A/WRC cars. You can get better results if you do mods based for road use.

Tony.

as with most tuners that i have spoken to the first line is what power do wont??? my response is im not fussed on power i wont torque i know that the two (to a degree) go hand in hand, but what is the best place to start with the scoobs for this type of high torque set up. is it, as you said, a case of running high boost and higher compression ratios or am i completely on the wrong track.

First thing to do is get the group A thing out of your head. You will NOT get that sort of ratio between torque and power on a road car..... and you frankly don't need to. I see what you mean about wanting to specify torque rather than power. What is your torque aim?

Tony.

P.s if it's quite high hope you've put some money aside for a new gearbox
