Default im confused !!

hi guys,
i've been surfing the web for an apexi power FC and have come up with some interesting results...my problem is i don't know what year my car is...on my VIN plate my applied model is stated as GC8EK8D, from what i've read this is a My98 wrx with 276hp...now heres my problem, my engine type is stated as an EJ20G on my VIN plate and engine number on my blue book is EJ207, i believe the EJ20G was found on pre97 models and from 97 to 98 it was an EJ20K...so what year exactly is my car??? why do i have a K on my applied model code instead of a 4? any help on this matter will be highly appreciated....cheerz guys....

suhail.....

Do you have indervidual coils on the top of each spark plug or do you have one coil pack mounted on the intake manifold and HT leads to each plug?
