Default So it looks like I have fuel cut

It appears that the miss I get mainly in 5th gear at around 3500 rpm, at full throttle, is likely to be fuel cut. Original post here: http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=347334
As I understand it, 3500rpm is just about the area where the actuater opens fully and is full boost, and in 4th and 5th gear boost is highest.
Again, as I understand it, having modded my car (decat, exhaust and Sti filter) this allows better breathing and exit of air so boost can go higher - however the standard ECu has a cut off point, where if boost goes beyond a certain 'safe' point it cuts the fuel. From what i understand this is what has happened.
So, I can either revert the car to standard, and it should be OK, or it looks like my only other is a remap/chip.
It's an MY98 turbo, so what are my options?
If I have any of the above wrong, please correct me, as I would like to have all the facts before I decide what to do.
Cheers

Sounds like you have a good grip on the topic.
I had this on my Stiv3, came out of the blue, and arrived before I fitted decat etc.
Final expensive solution then was to fit a Blitz boost controller.
Car has run perfectly for 2 1/2 years @ 1.31 bar.

Today, i would go for a new ecu, ie Apexi FC and get more benefits from that, ie running on 98 octane .
For Apexi, try finding Andy F on threads with this kind of topic, he supplies and maps these units to Scoobys.

Yes, I was also thinking that a remap would not only cure the problem, but would set my car up properly for the mods, and the optimax I always use, thus giving me more power.
I suppose then I have to consider what remap, and how much they are.
I'll have a look for Andy F's threads, see what I can see - cheers
Also, would a dawes device and boost guage suffice? i.e. set the boost manually so it doesn't reach the ECU's limit?

I ended up getting a remap (which also raised the fuel cut point) and a Dawes-like boost controller, never had a problem since.

Which remap, and how much?
I have an MY98 - what are the options?

I was also going to try to run the tank fairly low, fill up again with optimax at my local Shell (instead of the one in the depths of Devon I last used), reset the ECU, drive hard for a bit, and see if that does any good.
Still like to hear about remap options - any recommendations or suggestions?

How does that work, is it at all risky (as I presume it's cutting for a reason, i.e. unsafe??), and where do I get one from?

Cheers

I've used a HKS Fueld Cut Defenser for a couple of months. It fits on the ECU and does indeed lift the fuel cut limit set by the ecu. Fitting is about 30 min, albeit most of this time is taken finding the correct wire to tap into

I ran this with no problems on MY93 with a Dawes, decat etc. The only thing I would recomend would be to upgrade the fuel pump aswell.

I've now upgraded to a HKS FCON setup so if your interested pm me
