From memory it is possible but a pain in the ar$e.
There are a row of bolts which are hidden under the cross-member but with persaverance and a selection of odd tools you can do it.
Once it is undone you have to then get it free from the oil pickup.
I did do it though a couple of years back so it is possible.
Other options are to raise the engine or drop the cross-member.
