Recently whilst being passenger in an MY93 wagon ive noticed the CEL lighting up for 20 seconds then going off again.Once it has gone out it doesnt come on again until the engine is switched off for a period of time.Any ideas what i can check or what might be causing this light.The car is an MY93 wagon 1.8 GL (EJ18).
There is also a flat spot up to 2500 revs which is a bit puzzling,oil level is ok,ive just changed the spark plugs,the air filter is fine,the leads are new and ive run out of ideas
On a brighter note i cured the 1st-2nd crunching problem with some fully synth gear oil

Any help would be greatly appreciated

 

Probably the oxygen sensor. Do a search for "ECU fault codes" and you'll find out how to interrogate the fault.
