it might help to say i am not mechanicly minded though i am fully qualified auto electrician.

Ah , there you go , yoyo idle . Your MAF is likely to be shagged .
New maf is £70 from your local dealer.
ask for a "22794AA010 Meter CP-air flow"
You'll need a security torx bit to get the old one out. ( it's located in the tube between the air box and the engine ). 5 minute job (really)
Drive it like an old lady until you swap it.

Make sure when you order the MAF that you just ask for the censor otherwise you will end up with the whole unit and that will cost you aboiut £300 !!!!!

I took my car in to scooby dealer today and they changed the MAF sensor (hoooray!!!)
~But not all's well after washing and a vacum testdrive and 1hr 25mins they realised oh no it's not the MAF at fault.
After all the time i spent waiting for the repair it was the lambda sensor....
they only changed it cause i told them about your advise on scoobynet.
I thought they were supposed to have diagnostic gear????
finally after 2 & a half hrs my car runs like it was supposed to.
And all covered by warranty.
Thanks guys my car would be runing like a bag of poo if it wasnt for great advice from scoobynet members.
