But pull up at lights or roundabout 10 yrds later and oh dear revs drop engine almost stalls.

this is an intermittent problem but the local dealer cant find anything wrong????

sticky Idle Speed Control Valve ( can be cleaned out ) is guess #1

MAF is possible (especially on a 99 ) but you would likely see a yo-yo idle .

Ah , there you go , yoyo idle . Your MAF is likely to be shagged .

New maf is £70 from your local dealer.

ask for a "22794AA010 Meter CP-air flow"

You'll need a security torx bit to get the old one out. ( it's located in the tube between the air box and the engine ). 5 minute job (really)

Drive it like an old lady until you swap it.

You can ping off the security tab on the Star/Torx hex bolt with a small screwdriver, then use a normal Star/Torx tool

Hi,

Make sure when you order the MAF that you just ask for the censor otherwise you will end up with the whole unit and that will cost you aboiut £300 !!!!!

Sits in downpipe, essential for optimum catalyst efficiency when idling or at cruise. Causes the same idle hunting when on the way out.

About 130quid . Looks like a spark plug with 2 heater wires and a signal.

Signal should read .9v+ at WOT if it's ok.

How many miles on your motor ?

i know i was quoted £370 for backbox and then they charged me £478 i did complain and so they dropped labour rate from £65 ph to £55 ph.

still didnt relieve the pain in the wallet.

i will get them to check lambda sensor when it's in tuesday.

thanks guys

Thumbs up Idle problems solved

I took my car in to scooby dealer today and they changed the MAF sensor (hoooray!!!)
~But not all's well after washing and a vacum testdrive and 1hr 25mins they realised oh no it's not the MAF at fault.
After all the time i spent waiting for the repair it was the lambda sensor....
they only changed it cause i told them about your advise on scoobynet.

I thought they were supposed to have diagnostic gear????

finally after 2 & a half hrs my car runs like it was supposed to.

And all covered by warranty.

Thanks guys my car would be runing like a bag of poo if it wasnt for great advice from scoobynet members.
