Depends what mods. Anything up to 30 PSI is safe depending on this IMHO

You've asked a how long is a piece of string question.

On a decat MY99/00 I would suggest midrange boost of about 18 PSI dropping to about 14 at 6000 RPM.

1 bar is 14.5 PSI.

Good mappers include andyf9000@hotmail.com and www.brdevelopments.com either North or South of you.

You could run a boost controller quite happily at 16 PSI. You need a boost gauge and a knock link.
