Axle stands

Axle stands
Just general questions to see what other owners do. If I jack up at the front tow eyes and the rear diff, where are the best place to use axle stands?
On another note, do you guys leave the plastic cover under the engine, or get rid of it? I'm thinking of ditching it, for 1. easier access for working on, and 2. cooling. Now the protection maybe a reason to keep the cover, but has anyone experienced serious damage from not having the cover on?
Thanks
Keigo

on the pivot point of the lower arms.. where I put them depends on what I am doing..
rear.. anywhere solid..
i dont jack my car by the towing eyes. I use the metal plate under the front and take the whole front of the car up in one. (if I can get the jack under the bumper)

I tend to use a trolley jack behind the front wheels and place the axle stands under the bolts at the rear of the front suspension arms - car seems sound enough on them (was on them all weekend whilst I fitted Godspeed brakes ).
I'd never jack it up on the towing eye - forces are in the wrong direction...
Plastic undertray - took it off 2 months ago and left it off - in prep for fitting my Hybrid FMIC - not had any problems and its easy to get to now,.... Don't think the Jap models have it anyhow...
