Default Speedo Fast

Hi, I have a WRX MY94 and the speedo runs faster than i am actually traveling. It has been converted to MPH and the dials go to 180.

Would this be to do with the converter or the dials??

Thanks

Dave

205/40 17 i think.

Do you think it could make a difference.

I don't think they are really suppose to be that accurate as nearly everyone i speak to says theres is a bit out.

Mine reads about 80mph when i'm traveling about 60mph.

if standard size is 205/50x16 then in actual fact you are running at -2.6% undersize, according to the calculator if you cover 838 miles on standard.
Your speedo will say that you have covered 860 on current 17" tyre size. 205/45 would give u a 0.8% under, a bit better

Cheers for that, Not sure i quite understand how you got that But never mind.

That wouldn't put my speedo out as far as it is, I suppose its just a case of trial and error. Ill order a converter and see if it sorts it out.

Cheers

Mine has 215/40/17's fitted, the speedo face is original (apart from a MPH sticker over the KMH)and i also have the speedo convertor fitted.
My speedo reads exactly the same as what the Road Angel and the Sat Nav says....so i reckon it must be correct(within tolerances)
I guess your problem is more than likely down to the wrong tyre sizes fitted.

either 215/40/17 or 205/45/17. I have 205/40/17 which is the wrong size, but my speedo is barely out whatsoever, even at 100+mph. I'd say it was your convertor. Don't quote me though!!

Red face ITS NOT JUST THE TYRES

My STI5 also overreads. More than the tyres.

Id have to fit 19's to bring it back on par.

Its a shame someone does not offer an adjustable manual and electronic Converter.
