Question Check Engine Light At Speed

Ok you brainy lot im in a bit of a pickle.
Put my foot down a bit today and did about 125mph (not on public road of course)

Basically noticed the check engine light came on, so slowed down and pulled over.
Had a look and found nothing.
Started engine again and no problem.
Driving home tonite thought i would give it a blast and same thing again!

this is only happening at 100 mph plus.

Any ideas other than driving like a granny

Could be the lambda sensor. Mine used to do this when I ran unplugged, it only went on after reaching high revs in high gears for some reason.

If you registered a CEL the ECU may have stored a fault code. To run ECU diagnostics look HERE

Mine did this once on the way back down the motorway from the Scooby dealer. I turned round at the next junction and went back. They said it could be dirty petrol as I'd just filled up - if yours is a JDM, are you running Optimax and octane booster, or has it been remapped at all?

Hi Mate

Yes i'm running Optimax with octane booster and also got a scoobyecu.
i'm gonna have to try to sort these poxy ECU codes out now to see what it is.
That will be fun

Ok
Done my ECU reset and nothing! all is normal.
Is it possible to have to much octane booster baring in mind ive got a scoobyecu?
The reason i say this is because i only got down to half a tank then topped up and added another bottle of octane booster.
Other than that i'm at a loss

Dave, I have exactly the same problem on my MY94 JDM. It happens at seemingly random intervals but always after the car has been "dragged" through the gears (a GTI was getting on my t*ts). However if I pull over and turn off then straight back again the light goes out. I run mine on standard optimax. The last time I had it on diagnostics it had an error code 34 (according to the spanner man) Usually occurs on mine when booting it hard at 80+ Mph but not all the time. Also seems to occur on longer runs ie motorway.

Hi Mate Thanks for the response.

What is error code 34?
I can't seem to find it listed.
Did you get it sorted out or just forgot about it?

Thanks

32 is the lambda sensor. 34 isn't listed in my literature.
