Smelly air con
Hi,
Is anyone having problems with smelly air conditioning? Have just been using mine over the weekend as Summer is nearly here and getting this musty, stale water smell coming from the vents? Is this normal or do I have to clean something out? Mine is MY02.

Done a search on this but can't find much at all.
Maybe cos the air con doesn't get used much in the winter its goes stale? I'm gonna try and use it every day this week to see if it clears. Will have to wear me wollys and gloves though

um I just did a search in scoot for air conditioning & Car , the bloke comes along and changes the gas, its very dangerous stuff apparently and can blind you so I had no issues handing the guy my money. before he did it my aircon reduced cabin temp to 14degrees, afterwards it was 3degrees!

hi,
what that is down to is lack of use,and at the worse case you get a bacterial build up on the face off your evaparator coil. The remedy for this is a bacterial air sept spray which wil cure your problem, which cleans the face of the coil and kills the smell and bacteria.Should only cost around 35 quid.As the gas blinding you thats a load of bilge the old r12 gas was more dangerous.

A cheaper alternative to try is:
1) Turn on heater to maximum (HOT) with the air con ON.
2) Close all doors and windows and leave for 10 minutes.
This should help get rid of all the bacteria and mould inside the system. If it still doesn't work, then get someone to clean the coils etc. as advised above.
