Don't fit one. Your car will run far better without one. Unless modified beyond 350BHP no benefit! Been there, done it!

Lol. The standard one "does the job" for precisely no extra money whatsoever!

and looks good too.
How much is the glass bonnet so people can see how good it looks?

Used to run a Forge on mine, as it was loud enough to say the least, I reckon they look better than Baileys as well.

The best noise that a VTA dump valve can make..................

..........is the satisfying KERRKLLAAAAANNNGGG as you throw it into a neighbours skip,I hate the bluddy things!!!

They will do absolutely nothing for your cars performance,In fact, usually they make it worse and do nothing for the Impreza's already deminishing reputation

Its one mod thats best left to the nippers in their 1 litre Charades..etc

All In My Humble Opinion of course

I've never been 100% happy with my forge on my MY99. I've played with springs and all that but the whooosh just ain't good enough.
Has any of you lot had a bolt to intercooler forge and changed to Baileys or similar? I could be tempted to change if you lot make it sound worthwhile
PS - My car runs no better or worse with a VTA fitted and Mr Rawle was quite happy to map it without mentioning it

I used to have a Forge on my STi, then swapped it for a Baileys, got to say that the baileys sounds alot nicer and alot louder than the Forge. I would recommend one to anyone who's not wanting to spend big money on a Turbosmart, which IMHO dont sound as good anyway ( Im gonna get torn apart for saying that arent I ?)

Brun,

At the time when I had one fitted to my car(3 Impreza's ago)my bestest mate worked for a very well known aftermarket dump valve manufacturer

and there was nothing that we could do to make that car run properly,we tried plastic pistons, aluminium pistons, new o ring seals, red springs, blue springs, yellow springs...red springs with shims and some pretty pink polka dots on........but nothing worked, the car always ran like the perverbiable bag of sh!te

Try re-fitting your std valve for a day and I bet you won't go back

TAS adjustable piston recirc for me

none of that poncey pssssssss noises, i had to preform sum small mods to get this valve to work, but my standerd one leaked, and the TAS one was probably a lot cheaper

you can make the standerd stuff make the gay noise and VTA with a small mod (but i wont be telling you what it is as the less cars going around making flat tyre noises is the better IMO lol)

I just bought the baileys; I think the pressure which is realised is not enough hence the noise is very minimal in fact cant even hear it; but when i tryed it on a mates car it sounds very loud. whats wrong with my one how much will it cost to get it back to normall. so i can enjoy the noiseeeeeeee

Brun.. its was to Elmer... as i had a K&N cone fitted to mine.. it ran pants.. something to do with it taking in too much warm air from the engine. As soon as i went to the ITG panel filter.... the car ran a lot better.. even with the Bailey lol

I had a Forge one for a few weeks on my 02 WRX, tried all the different springs following phone calls with them - In the end they gave me a refund.

Firsly, why do you want a D.V? If it is for the noise then I cannot help you.
The D.V. does not add any performance but when changing from top mount intercooler to FMIC sometimes becomes necessary depending on what model year you have.
If you are seriously interested in the performance of your vehicle then you need a recirculating type and this makes mapping easier and AFR is consistent. The VTA can lead to pops and bangs on gear change or lift off and reapplication.
I have fitted four Forge recirc in the last couple of months. They came in the post from Scoobymania for under £100 each and were the STi4 type which fits into the FMIC pipework without any support brackets.
I would also consider the alternative Baileys which is a little bit cheaper but I did not have a ready source of supply.
I cannot understand why anybody would want to change the dump valve when it was not necessary and while dump valves are available for £60-£100 I am aware of some people who have spent £300 or thereabouts and as there is no performance gain I do not understand the logic. It seems rather a lot to spend for a bit of noise and the facility to scare old grannies at the bus stop. You could always try drilling a 3mm hole in your exhaust immediately after the down pipe. You might need to experiment with the hole diameter and if you do not like the results you can always gum gum the hole and put on a jubilee clip. Each to his own.

Hello all

I have a HKS SSQV on my MY93 WRX with FMIC and HKS Intake

I recently fitted recirc adaptor and ran 1 inch hose back to inlet body between MAF and Turbo. This made it quieter.. Thank God!! But I just don't like the way it warbles when you lift of under light acceleration.

It is mounted direct to FMIC pipe just before inlet manifold.

I want to get it removed, tig weld up the hole on fit another make....

All I want it a nice little choosh or tchtss noise. And I will be keeping it recirced as I noticed a huge improvement when coming back on power after gear change... Less Lag...

I live in gloucester so Forge is just round corner and I service there welders for them so may get discount!!

Which forge should I try? Do I need there recirc one or can I just use a Dump to Atmos and plumb in to my pipe that goes back to Air housing as above?

Look forward to you help

Sorry to jump on thread!!

Rob
