Question What causes lift-off det?

I was reading a post about someone experiencing lift-off det,i recall he had a modified ecu+ other bits.

One of the answers was that it can be mapped out,but can it be caused by failing sensors even on a std ecu???

I find it quite interesting that it can happen on decelleration,as i was allways led to believe that it only happens under load.

Any answers from you technical gurus would be appreciated to help settle my curious mind

Maybe it is the sudden weakening of the mixture just for a short time.

Question

Another question is-if you come of the throttle at 6K and allow the revs to drop(whilst in gear with clutch engaged) to 2K,can you cet lift off det start at say 3.5K a few seconds after initially lifting off the throttle?(A bit like the reverse way of flooring the throttle up to 6K and only getting det at 5K on the way up the revs)

I hope this question makes sense.
