Default Fuel filter

Does the fuel filter sit under pressure when the engine is not running.
I am going to change it today but didn't want to take the pipes off and end up with fuel spurting all over (like one of the old cartoons, chasing a hose pipe around )

Either that or remove the power to the pump in the tank.. start the car until it dies and repeat a couple of times.

connection is under the righthand cover on the back of the boot floor near the rear seats when you look into the boot from the bumper. Electrical connection.
