Angry MY97 Fuel Consumption

Hi,

Can someone please tell me how many liters is a full tank?
Super unleded, i can not remember if its £30 or £40 for a full tank?

I get 180miles of normal driving...which i think is really bad! I think that is avaraging 15mpg!!

Thanks
Sam

I have a MY95 uk wagon and it costs £35 to fill up with Optimax... it gives me 200miles or so.

Unhappy Surley it cant be true...

I tend to get 100 miles by the time the tank in on half, then no more then 80miles, of slugish driving...

Could there be something rong with the fuel intake etc...Does anyone know?

I want to do some engine mods..but an worried that the consumption will get even worst...

Surely that'd depend how much you're paying for Super Unleaded? It can vary by more than 10p depending on where you fill up!

I have had a full decat system and the fuel economy has improved by about 10%...dont worry.... it wont get worse..
Thats unless you drive it harder more of the time.

i bet you still smile for evrey mile you do- you should only feed the beast the best - i wouldent mind if optimax was £1.00 per litre i would still grin driving my scoob but to be fair since decatting, fuel consumption has increased now get approx 75 miles to £20 mostly town driving

oh well

regards

Try replacing your lambda sensor, they are a lifed component and only last for about 30,000 miles. They gradually start to under read and so see a lean fuel mixture coming out of the engine and so chuck more and more fuel in.

The lambda controls fueling under gentle driving conditions.

They all sound like low figures to me.

I used to get 270-280 on a MY99 full decat etc.

I believe you often get slightly better consumtion with a decat - particularly in conjunction with a tec remap.

My '97 gets about 200 miles before the fuel gauge is pointing at the empty mark. However, at this point there is still about 15 litres left. The fuel tank is 60 litres on a '97, the most I have ever put in it is 55 litres, at which point the needle of the fuel gauge was pointing at the middle bar of the E, I'm not brave enough to go below that though as on many cars the last few litres can't be used due to the shape of the tank.

Av,

You are right on the efficiency, and the TEK does run very slightly leaner at the top end I am told. But even as standard I was hitting 260-270, with a new MAF
