during a service which sensor does it affect?.... I've heard this is very common and you normally have to clean a sensor in the engine afterwards...

 

Dont know about sensors, however on certain cars it can damage your catalyst if the oil is over filled.

 

boost solenoid.

Thats the one - Gonna give that and my MAF a good bloody clean this weekend, also it's time to change the HT leads I reckon (dated 1998) - I'm having slight hesitation problems at low revs (under 3k) when both cold and hot....

 

Clean out the intercooler too.

 

I dont know much about turbo's but how does that oil get into the intercooler ?

 

There are breathers from the crank case and cam covers.. the oil vapour goes up the breathers when the engine is hot and into the air intake just before the turbo.. it is then sucked all through the intercooler etc..

happened to me wen i had my sport. stuttered below 3k but fine above. dealer said too much oil affected knock sensor. i know didley **** about engines but thats wat they told me.

every service ive had at diferent dealers and an independent garage they have filled it to the top hole (oil level when hot)not the first notch!!!!

 

Just to add i dont think the MAF is something that can be cleaned and due to the importance of it working correctly i would suggest that if it is **** up then a new one should be a priority.
