#1
Hi guys,
My car is 96 uk spec classic, already upto 280-285 bhp..currently has full decat,K&N and full remap, boost at 15.5 psi..so wanna try and get some more power.Am i now into getting bigger injectors, turbo and fuel pump then remap, lookin to get about 350-380.Are the internals upto this or am i gonna have to do engine work?
Thanks,
Gary

Very dodgy ground using standard internals for that sort of power and gear box and clutch only good for 330BHP
You will have look at a FMIC for that sort of power though to keep her cool and prevent det.

Std clutch is good for 360+lb-ft of torque which can get you well over 400bhp. Std gearboxes seem to let go around 340lb-ft+ with extended abuse, this will get you to 400bhp if your turbo allows your engine to breath well at higher rpm.

NM,
Not at all m8, there`s a few motas doing just that on std internals up here bud. Hell Andy`s was one of the "and more" category.
RE gearbox n clutch ... what Andy said , so don`t believe the hype. It`s the torque and launching that`ll kill the box & clutch.
In order to get the numbers up safely AF mix becomes more important. To oversimplify more power needs more fuel (for both combustion & lubrication) which needs more air (oxygen). So yes an FMIC may assist in the cooling of the charge temerature of available air but it wont make any noticable difference if the restriction is between the air filter and the inlet manifold

Right ok then..so considering where the car is already at,what would ya recommend?...oh new clutch this week anyway..ap organic!
Ta.
Ps..dont really wanna upgrade box,i realise i could be looking at a compromise.ie.power/gearbox/cash etc..350bhp would probably do it for me!

Have fun mate but play safe as you dont want to spend a load of dosh on something that will go bang in a few months !!!!
My daily runabout a UK MY98 is running 311BHP and 288Lbf atm. Followed this route to get there
VF24 turbo
Uprated fuel regulator and pump
STi 440cc yellow injectors
Full 3" decat
KNi induction kit with heat shield and loads of cold air feed
Standard intercooler with water spray, air splitter, samco hoses and tilted.
AP organic clutch and 5.5kg flywheel
Power Engineering Phase 2 remap to map all the above mods.
Safe reliable power on my daily runabout
Cheers
