Sounds similar to my pro-drives..
I have them on my classic, should be a shiny silver backed sticker with STI emblem on and Bilstein lower down on the sticker, on the right u should also find the pro-drive name
Bilsteins and Eibachs on the classic, mail me if u want a pic of the sticker on the strut to compare..

Prodrive badged ECU located in passenger footwell under kickplate
Prodrive badged Tailpipe
Prodrive badged Seats
High level Prodrive rear spoiler
If you have any of these (as well as the suspension) it sounds like it had a few thousand pounds worth of upgrades earlier in it's life. If it was sold to you as standard, you may of got a bargain.

I believe that they used STi suspension parts on the MY99/00 cars (for the face lift/phase 2).
As long as the part is still a subaru part though you should be ok with your insurance co, id speak with your dealer and see what they say.
