Hi,

I'm newbie on scooby net forum (but an old one on french forum).
I'm going to "update" my STi7. I already have Ecutek reflash on dyno run, uprated fuel pump and sport cat.
I woul'd like a 2.5 conversion....does some people have experience on it (like EJ257 block, I-Speed Closed Deck engine...)
Coul'd I use genuine ECU with reflash to manage it ???

Thank a lot

Yep you can use your heads on the 2.5STI short engine

Then you can remap the ECU using ECUTEK.

But it seems to have some problems with USDM 2.5 pistons and I didn't found any forged pistons for it (I-Speed is preparing them but not yet)

You'll need a few more supporting mods to stress the US ej25 pistons.....assuming a good remap, or course What power levels are you after?

I don't think using genuine US pistons. They don't seems to be very performants. I know that Crawfords preparing uprated pistons for it. I'm looking for 450+ HP

One of my main problems is the ECU. You know that STi7 ECU has some problems with ignition timing and knock detection. In this case an Ecutek remap is useless. So if i swap my 2.0 Type UK in 2.5 USDM should I keep genuine ECU or USDM ECU (in fact i'll prefer STi8 ECU)

Chewie,

But you already have an EcuTek remap - who did it, and did they mention issues? They would/should see if it's going to suffer the pulled timing through peak power. If it does, just get a replacement from Subaru FR.

If it didn't do it then, it will be fine - in my experience, if they don't do it at stock boost levels (some do!), then it will as soon as you actually hold boost (stock maps don't really do this very well ).

I assume you realise you will not reach your power target without considerable changes elsewhere? Injectors, turbo, intercooler and exhaust spring immediately to mind

The US ej25 short motor will bolt straight up to to the GT top end, but there's one additional breather that needs sorting. See John Bank's thread in 'Projects' for details, he recently did this. But again, note that you'll need a remap and at the very least a better turbo than the stock td04 to get any decent results (might be fun to try with the stock turbo though )

Richard

Yes Dowser I know that i have a lot of thing to uprate (I already have a racing fuel pump) like turbo, pistons, injectors, valves spring, intercooler, clutch....

My remap was made by Seymaz Racing in Switzerland (not see ya :-) )

Actually I've a problem with my MAP sensor but it's going to be solved tomorrow. Just after my car is going to be tuned in light version and beginning engine swap...a hard work but in France we only have a big Scooby (GT00, Jun 2.2, TD0620G, approx. 500HP) and it's a big challenge following it.
