INDUCTION KIT ON WRX JDM(NEWBIE
#1
Hi all im a newbie to the scoobyworld.ive just imported a 1995 wrx.the question i wanted to know is that i have seen an induction kit from quikshiftracing.the kit ive seen is a 7" by 5" stainless steel cone filter.the problem is on there sight they have displayed the kit on a uk turbo and the problem is on that pic the air pipe joining on to the filter comes from next to the alternator.and on my engine the air box pipe comes from the back next to where the turbo and intercooler are the lump behind the alternator.
would this kit fit my engine? any answers much appreciated.
sory for da long winded message

All early scoobs up to 98 i think have the same air flow meter so the filter would connect up no problem. The brackets would be different but im sure they list a kit for it. I had one on my 98 uk turbo, same spec as a blitz only bigger and half the price!

Scoobs up to MY96 have the same maf and airbox setup as yours, MY97 onwards was different, it probably won't fit.
btw turn the caps off its considered shouting.

As far as know all the air flow meters up to 99uk and sti4 jap have the same hole centres so yes it will fit! There are different styles of unit but they have the same hole centres. Anyway ask quikshift! Mine was fine and sounded great.

i have fitted a few of these filters to uk and jap cars with no problem.
the only ones i have had any trouble with is the pre 96 cars with abs fitted, it still fits but is a bit of a squeeze

Do you really need an induction kit?
I ran an HKS one for 3 years without problem and can honestly say it certainly generates a lot of noise which can be tiresome on long journeys but performance wise it only made the car pull harder above 5000rpm.
Best mods - full decat exhaust and scoobyecu chip.
Remember with jap cars on UK fuel (lower octane), higher risk of det and induction may lean out the mixture further.
Best with ITG/STI/K+N panel filter.
