Question

I've had me MY02 tuned by PAT and Scoobysport with bigger turbo, STi7 injectors and fuel pump (not sure which make), but running std reg. I've since noticed a post re regs and Bob Rawle says best to change std reg when injectors changed due to its size.

Can I fit an uprated reg but not have the car remap again? If so, what pressure would I need to set it at? Do you set the pressure at tickover...since as revs increase, fuel pressure does also?

Hey Ant

you can fit the fuel reg no probs, the pressure is set @ tick over with the vacum hose disconnected from the reg (you need to plug the disconnected vac hose as well)

Set it to near as damn it 3.2bar @ this condition.

Cheers & happy new year etc etc

Thats not quite true, since the car was mapped with an uprated pump which does overpower the std reg. fitting an adjustable reg will alter the pressure profile of the injectors wrt boost, std pressure is 2.6 bar at hot idle with the vac connected. Start with that but .. get the mapping checked asap. Its advantageous to increase over the std fuel pressure by approx 0.5 bar (measured the same way) however this would definately mean a remap was required as the fueling wiould be significantly richer under most circumstances.

Dam n' blast...If I'd of known that before the TEk3 I would of had one fitted...don't want the extra expense and time involved in another remap for now...

Cheers guys for advice...what reg kit would you recommend for the new age?

Bob, could I fit an uprated reg for now, with pressure set only slightly higher as I've got a dawes fitted (since I'm almost over the max boost before clip injector/ignition advance = 25 psi). If I monitor air/fuel or will the map just be totally wrong anyway?
