Does anyone know if it is possible to completely remove the standard boost solenoid, yet prevent the engine light coming on?

As soon as i disconnect the electrical plug the light comes on you see, much to my annoyance!

Measure the impedance of the solenoids coil with a Multimeter then fit a Resistor of an equivalent value across the plug connector.

Had thought of this, however does the Ecu not send an actuation voltage down this wire to alter boost?

The ECU pulses the solenoid open/shut to control the boost pressure. If the ECU see's an open circuit it will throw the CEL. A resistor will work fine

If anyone is interested it is a 20 ohm resistor required to keep the 'check engine' light out.

You can use a 1K resistor which keeps it smaller and lower power = cooler. It doesn't seem to mind the actual resistance just that it is not an open circuit.

Had great difficulty getting 20 ohm resistor from maplins. If using a 1k resistor must it be a large one capable of lots of current or is a standard jobbie ok? wont get to hot?

Cheers, Gareth.
