Question

as above. i mean we can all stick "the best mods" on our cars but as we've see, some mods work better on some cars than others, so what is the starting off point to getting better torque figures? if you know what i mean? if you look at norris designs evo7, they have a torque figure very close to their bhp figureIIRC, but how would i be able to do this???

Cool

Hi Drb5

What boost they running on that then?

It is usually down to what boost they run and a good air flow in and out of the car.

that basically it? surely not bud? if i turned the boost up, i get more torque? what about the audi's that are now more concerned with normally aspirated engines as they give better torque? or am i just stoopid?

Hi Everybody:

What is that of changing the EJ20 block for a EJ25?, Is a "plug and play" process?, Can you give more details please?

I believe you mean better throttle response and torque curve rather high torque figures right?
If yes then my personal opinion is to add more cc to your engine (as stated above from 2.0 > 2.5) and better flow (intake-exhaust) without extreme solutions (say 3,5" exhaust) along with a good remap focused on torque.
Otherwise buy a 4.0 V6-V8 and enjoy it, no one can beat high capacity normally aspirated V engines in throttle response (BMW M3 for example)!

Cool

It depends where you want your torque

Altering the length/bore of your inlet manifold adjusts the revs peak torque will be obtained, but i doubt thats worth ****ing about with.

Also headers and up pipe, depending on the length until the headers meet the collector the torque revs will change, also narrower bores mean better low end torque at the expense of the top end.

Longer stroke cranks make better power at low revs too...

Also i wouldn't just look at the peak figure but the revs that it's at. It's really just a measure of the rev range that the engine is most efficient.

Oops, i've been drinking too much beer again, if this is a load of rubbish ignore it
