Hi chaps
Just did a couple of DeltaDash runs in my MY02 UK spec 220bhp with VF22/decat. Here are some observations/questions.

1) Highest Injector Duty Cycle was 110.15%. How is this possible and have I maxed out my injectors? Boost was about 1.1b, 6454rpm, lambda 0.76, throttle 100%.

2) I had a knock signal at lift-off between 2nd and 3rd. Point to note that when it happened, Ignition timing was 38.5 and lamda was 1.72. These are idle values.

I have the data in Excel format. If anyone can tell me how to upload it, I will.

Merry Christmas to all
WOTman

Guys, any comments.

I did a few more runs at the track. Still got -2.5 knock correction on lift-off. Also saw a -1.5 ignition timing at part throttle 4500rpm.

Am getting worried.

Cheers.

do you have some DD logs you can post up of the car in 3rd, 4th and 5th under full load? DD has a feature of starting and stopping logging on full throttle on the latest version avaible on the EcuTek website, you can use this to generate 3 power run logs, one for each gear.

You arent really making things easy to discuss with the info you are giving so far. Make sure you log all the improtant info such as boost, injector duty, O2 sensor, ignition, knock corection, waste gate solonoid duty.

Make sure you do this after warming the car up properly, but not after thrashing it.

I am at home and don't have the Delta Dash program with me, but I had a quick look in Excel. It doesn't look too bad to me! When at full throttle you have quite good timing, so I don't think your AFR is way too lean. However you could run quite some more boost when you fit bigger injectors (and fuel pump!). It's quite normal to see very high injector dutycycles in the new age WRX.

Get a remap, you only have 11.5 deg total advance at 4000 RPM at 1.1 bar of boost. You could gain massive amounts of torque there!

Negative knock correction at liftoff is normal with your ECU.

Mark.

Thanks John for putting the attachments up.

Mark, thanks for putting my mind at rest on the negative knock correction at liftoff. When you say that the new age Impreza runs higher duty cycle, what is considered "high"? 110% suggests that we're already past the "recommended peak". At what percentage can we expet them to max out?

I am getting a Walbro GSS317 installed as we speak. This should give me more margin.

Cheers to all,
Julian

if you are upping the fuel pump you will find the engine will run rich until its remapped as the stock FPR cant flow enough to keep the same base presure. It would be best to fit an uprated FPR at the same time and set the base presure to the same as it was stock, then when you do come to remap it, up the base presure to 3BAR on idle.

uprated fuel pump (and fuel filter) has much gains. engine feels much more responsive at low end and torque seems to have improved across the range. yes, it's running rich but i'm prepared to live with that. consumption seems to have improved though.. probably due to better atomisation?

will go do a couple of runs on the DD to see if AFR is in order although the higher pressure pump should deliver but I've heard some discussion on the excessive current drawn.

but 110% injector cycle is ok right?

Julian how much lt/h is the GSS317 Walbro fuel pump and is the correct part number for the MY01>03 as I thought the GSS347 is 255lt/h?

Both are 255l/h. Only that the GSS347 can deliver higher pressure at higher flow rates.

Check out the specs..
