Question

hello all
i have a my96 uk wagon-running nearly 300bhp-
but it still has the old slanted cig packet sized intercooler?
with 91k on it..
would changing to the larger(straight) intercooler of a my98 car pe helpfull for the motor
i have been offered one for peanuts with about 38k on it??
any quick repley would be most helpfull

yes it would.

Colder air the better, and helps reduce knock and increase oxygen molarity. So long as your ECU will compensate.

thinking of the same as my tmic has some damaged fins however as its a wrx import i,ve been told the slanted intercooler cannot be replaced by a straight one as the turbo on an import is bigger than a uk version
any comments

Its not as easy as it looks, You will have to shorten the throttle body side of the TMIC and also the actual throttle body itself. It is also easier if you fit a Samco Y-splitter along with a Custom T-section for either the oem dump v/v or an aftermarket jobbie. You will also have to make a plate to fit where the oem d/v would fit on the MY98 TMIC.

It is a worthwhile mod though with noticeable effects, I can vouch for that I'm gonna sell mine complete soon as I have a FMIC on the way

Neil,

Turbo on the 4door WRX is the same as the UK iirc.. TD05..
no difference..
