I think my scoob ( 2000AWD Turbo ) is not well.Recently It is stinking of fuel a lot soon after starting and on couple of occasions it wouldnt start at once. Was finding a bit loss of power in acceleration but wasnt sure.

Now more serious is that this evening I started the engine to warm it up.It stank ( like hell )of petrol straight away. After couple of minutes the exhaust started to blow absolutely tons of whitish smoke (looked white in dark!)I know its -2 degree outside and engine must have been stone cold to start with anyway. But even then this stink of petrol and long smoke session freaked me out and didnt seem normal.
I did run it (didnt thrap it tho!) for about 2-3 miles just to check if it would continue throwing smoke out. After 3 mile run the smoke stopped but I think I felt a loss of power in acceleration for sure.I have magnex backbox fitted which sounded quiter too.

Can you please tell me what it could be? My worry is,can it be a turbo which is f*cked or what?If it is,am I looking for huge bill just before Xmas?
Any help will be much appreciated.

Wink

Shall I state the obvious? Maybe you have a fuel leak...
Bad starting and running maybe due air in the fuel lines.

White smoke: either Steam, Unburnt fuel + decat - normal for 1st 2-3 seconds of cold start. Or your running on diesel!

Most cars will give lots of what looks like smoke when they start-up from cold, especially IN the cold, and that would go once the exhaust is nice and warm, but the fuel smell makes me thin it might be an injector fault, like it's injecting too much!!
might only be one, if it was all of them it wouldn't run, see a specialist!

Phew! Thanks Ali-B!
So it may not be the big bro turbo
I fulltanked it with Optimax today.Hope their fuel wasnt dodgy in dodgy Wrexham!
I do suspect the fuel leak.

Check your oil & cooling water .. if it's creamy, then head gasket failed perhaps.
White "Smoke" is often steam from a blown head gasket, allowing water into cylinder. ( blue smoke is oil from turbo or other failures allowing oil into cylinder / exhasust stream ).
More visible when cold weather, and would account for on, off power loss.

Get a compression test done soon to check.
