bad misfire, its only running on two cylinders, have tested just about everything. I have traced it back to the output signals from the ecu. When we tested the output signals from the ecu i have found that two signals are pulsing corectly (hence it runs on two), another signal pulses 3 times when cranking and then stops, and one signal is dead.

Cheers

Have you checked the ECU ignitor connectors? I just spent several hours last weekend troubleshooting a misfire/stall on my 92 Legacy, which appeared on sudden jumps/potholes. The reason was simple, the leaf springs in ECU connector were "tired" and sometimes the ECU lost contact with camshaft position sensor. No signal from the sensor, no spark. The springs can be "renewed" with the help of a needle, worked for me.

The problem seems to be before the ignitor. I checked for the pusles coming straight out of the ecu connecter which then runs to the ignitor.
So i belive that it could be the ecu, i know these are pretty full proof and don't usually go wrong but they must do sometimes.
The vehicle was running fine with no problems at all, the car was then stopped left for a couple of hours and when i tryed to restart it, the misfire appeared.

Cheers

Try a dealer or Scooby specialist in your area who can try the Select Monitor on the engine, then try a Auto Electric specialist who may have better general diagnostic equipment, then look in the motor press / Internet for an ECU Specialist.

Camco88 in Warrington, NW are supposed to be good with ECU's ( although Superchip is their favoured upgrade! )
