I use optimax only in my(94)sti,with octane-booster(silkolean),can't understand why you were told not to use it,it gives that added oomph,running @nearly 320++bhp and no problems what so ever.

When you say she was advised not to use Opti, what was she advised to use instead?
The correct fuel to use with a Japanese import running on its standard map is either Optimax plus the correct amount of a good octane booster , or, at a pinch, Super Unleaded plus slightly more of a good booster.
So, if you were simply told "not to use Optimax in this car" without any futher qualification, the advice was bad. Very bad in fact.

That's a definate greasemonkey mysti goes like !!*£ with opti and octane strange how they've been told not to use it,surely they would have been told if the map was different if not why not????

yes its a jap import. was told to use super unleaded, normally use esso, had no problems. cant say who said not to but they are a scooby specialist. must admit i used optimax in my old bmw and it made no difference at all to the performance. i also remember formular shell which buggered up quite a few engines. Still not sure about the whole optimax thing.

oh forgot, what booster to use cos she was not told anything about that at all.
For reference, what do you use for a uk 97 turbo (my car) cos i use esso super u/l on it and it seems ok, what about booster / optimax in that?
