Got a very hard to describe noise coming from back right of engine. Can only hear at idle and appears to rise until 2k revs then u cant hear it.

Took it to mechanic and it stopped and engine is running sweet. Took it out for a long run afterwards and noise came back. Its mettalic but not knocking.

Not expecting a diagnosis, but in general if engine is going would it not be a consistent sound getting worse ?

Engine rebuild may cost !

Does indeed sound like a heat shield..

Mine started sounding like someone tearing sheet metal at a certain rpm...

Dully binned

Cheers guys, I do find it odd that it only happens here and there, but its really annoying.

Going to book it in to get rocker cover gasket replaced see if they can track it down, most engine pops do seem a big bang !
